Cable Drawing Overview

Compared to the nailboard, the EPLAN Harness proD Studio cable drawing environment is rather schematical. A cable drawing is a production drawing that details the manufacturing of a cable assembly. Although the lengths are schematical, the dimensions show the real values. Different types of AutoDimensions can be defined in the Cable drawing display configuration set editor. AutoDimensions are created automatically during the creation of the cable drawing.

The cable drawing always has a straight layout of cables, bundles, and surface protections; wires, on the other hand, are displayed in a discernible way, i.e., you can see how they first exit the cables, bundles, and surface protections in an angled direction and then switch to the straight direction. Only the control points of starting and end points of cable layers (insulators, shields, ...), bundles, and surface protections are displayed in the cable drawing.

The whole branch can be moved, shortened, or extended by simply dragging a control point with the mouse (cable ties, clips, labels, and special components act like a control point) or by using the Move command.

In spite of changing lengths and shapes of the paths by moving the control points, the dimensions show the real values.
