Rules for AutoAttaching Parts

The attached parts are autoAttached, removed, and replaced in accordance with some rules. AutoAttachment is based on properties such as Cavity size, range of Wire outside diameter, and range of Wire cross-section. Typically, those properties are defined in the attached parts and their corresponding parts - connectors, wires terminalss, etc.

Add selected objects

Wire terminals, wire terminals on pins, cavity seals, and cavity plugs are added to the corresponding component (connectors, connectable objects, terminals, and special components). This option does not replace attached parts.

If the Wire terminals check box is activated, wire terminals are added onto wire ends. The suitable wire terminal defined in EPLAN Harness proD Library is placed on the corresponding component.

Wire terminals are attached on the basis of the cross-section and outside diameter of the wire if the Insulation crimp required check box has been activated in the Wire terminal tab in EPLAN Harness proD Library. If the Insulation crimp required check box is not activated for the wire terminal in EPLAN Harness proD Library, wire terminals are only attached on the basis of the cross-section of the wire. In this case, the insulation of the wire is crimped, and therefore the outside diameter of the wire is not taken into account when autoAttaching wire terminals.

If the Wire terminals on pins check box is activated, wire terminals are added onto pins which do not have any wire connected. The first wire terminal in the list of wire terminals defined in EPLAN Harness proD Library is placed in the corresponding component. Because wire terminals are placed onto pins only when there is no wire connected, no dimensions are taken into account when placing wire terminals on pins.

If the Cavity seals check box is activated, cavity seals are added onto pins to which a wire is connected. The suitable cavity seal defined in EPLAN Harness proD Library is placed on the corresponding component. Cavity seals are placed on the basis of the wire outside diameter and the cavity size of a connector, connectable object, terminal, and special component.

If the Cavity plugs check box is activated, cavity plugs are added onto pins which do not have any wire connected. The suitable cavity plug defined in EPLAN Harness proD Library is placed on the corresponding component. Cavity plugs are placed on the basis of the cavity size.

Remove selected objects

If the Remove selected objects check box is activated together with the Wire terminals, Wire terminals on pins, Cavity seals and Cavity plugs check boxes, the attached parts are removed. Any other setting in the AutoAttach parts wizard is irrelevant when removing objects.

Delete redundant objects

If wire terminals, wire terminals on pins, cavity seals, and cavity plugs are placed more than once, they are considered redundant. In addition, if a wire is connected to a pin and at the same time a wire terminal is placed on the same pin, the wire terminal is considered redundant. This option removes such redundant attached parts and keeps only one part of each of the placed attached parts. Any other setting in the AutoAttach parts wizard is irrelevant when removing redundant attached parts.

Place <object> if required

Wire terminals, wire terminals on pins, cavity seals, and cavity plugs are only placed if they have been determined to be required in the corresponding component in EPLAN Harness proD Library.

Replace all <objects> while placing

Wire terminals, wire terminals on pins, cavity seals, and cavity plugs can be placed manually. In this case, a different attached part (other than the one defined for the corresponding component in EPLAN Harness proD Library) can be placed. Replace all <objects> while placing replaces the attached parts for the suitable one defined for the corresponding component in EPLAN Harness proD Library. This option works only in combination with the Add selected objects setting. The Place <object> if required option and the <Object> required setting for the corresponding component in EPLAN Harness proD Library is taken into account when replacing attached parts.

Enforce one wire terminal for multiple wires

This option overrides the Multiple wire terminal required (default) pin settings. If activated, the same wire terminal is added to each wire end connected to the pin. The wire terminal will then have a quantity of "1" in the bill of materials report.
If deactivated, one wire terminal is added to each wire end connected to the pin, and the quantity in the bill of materials is summed up correspondingly.
