AutoRouting Selected Wires and Cables

The AutoRoute selection command is used to automatically route all selected unrouted source objects.

Source objects are all objects which can be pulled through target objects. They include wires, prototype wires, cables, rapid prototype cables, and empty cables. The target objects include bundles and all types of surface protections.

If a target object has several segments, the AutoRoute selection function will pull the source object through the first and last end points of the target object which is closest to it.

Note:

It is not possible to pull source objects through control points.

The AutoRoute selection function is a "one-step" function: it automatically routes all selected unrouted source objects through the closest target objects. For manual routing, use the Manual route function.

If there are any control points (or labels or cable ties) on the source objects before you add them to a target object, they will be lost after the objects are routed.

  1. Select the Tools > AutoRoute selection menu items or the button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the source objects to be routed by clicking (for multiple selection, hold down the [Ctrl] key while clicking).

All selectable objects are highlighted when you move the mouse over them.
  3. Finish the selection by right-clicking.

All selected unrouted source objects are routed through the target objects which are closest to them.
  4. If this function routes a source object which you did not want to be routed, use the Unroute function.
