Modifying Active Dimensions

Active dimensions are available in the workdesk environment. They are placed within objects such as (rapid prototyping) wires, (rapid prototyping) cables, (rapid prototyping) ribbon cables, bundles, and surface protections, with a single active dimension being created in each section of these objects. Such a section is defined by the neighboring control points of the object.

An active dimension can be deleted: Select the respective dimension and either right-click and select the Delete popup menu item or press the [Del] key.

If an active dimension is missing (e.g. if it was deleted), it can be added back to the object or its segments: Select the object (such as a bundle, a cable, a wire, a surface protection, etc.) and click the Restore button in the Advanced section of the properties panel. The missing active dimension will be added to the object again

  1. Select the desired active dimension in the workdesk working window.

The active dimension's properties are displayed in the properties panel.
  2. In the Anchor point field, click the Left anchor point button to determine the left neighboring control point as the anchor point, or click the Right anchor point button to determine the right neighboring control point as the anchor point.

The object's length changes according to the selected anchor point.
  3. The Segment length field displays the length of the path segment. Depending on the workdesk settings (under Tools > Settings > Workdesk > Active dimensions) or the properties of the Active dimensions node of the tree view, you can change the length value.

The actual length in the workdesk working window changes accordingly.
  4. The Distance field displays the length between the control points. Depending on the workdesk settings (under Tools > Settings > Workdesk > Active dimensions) or the Active dimensions node of the tree view, you can change the distance value.

The actual distance in the workdesk working window changes accordingly.
  5. Activate the Flipped check box if the active dimension is to be flipped, i.e. placed on the opposite side of its current location.
  6. In the Additional space field you can change the value to define the distance between the active dimension and the actual object.
