Placing Control Points

A control point is a virtual object which is placed on bundles (including those with surface protections), cables, and wires to make them more flexible. It is not a physical entity and is only used to shape an object.

Control points are automatically deleted after the object on which they are placed is routed through another object.

Add new control point

  1. Select the Insert > Add control point menu items or the button on the toolbar.
  2. Place the control point anywhere on a supported object by clicking.

All selectable objects are highlighted when you move the mouse over them.
  3. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Add control point button again, if desired.

Place control point in workdesk with specified distance from a control point or special component

A control point can be placed in the workdesk with a specified distance from an existing control point or a special component. In case the control point is placed on a cable control point, it can only be placed on the particular cable layer which contains the existing control point. In case the existing cable control point divides the cable layers, the control point can only be placed on either of the layers. If the control point is placed on a bundle control point, it can only be placed on the particular bundle segment on which the existing control point is located. The boundaries of the bundle segment are confined by the bundle start / end control points (i.e. the control points where the bundle starts / ends or divides the bundle and the wire / cable / surface protection / other bundle) or the split points (i.e. the control points where the bundle is branched). In case the control point is placed on a ribbon cable control point, it can be placed either on the ribbon cable or its branch if the ribbon cable is branched.

  1. Select the Insert > Add control point menu items or the button on the toolbar.
  2. Place the control point on an existing control point (left-click on the control point of a wire, cable, bundle, surface protection, etc.).
  3. Select the direction of the control point placement (either side of the path from the control point).
  4. Enter the Distance value into the command bar and press [Enter].
