Inserting Cavity Seals

Cavity seals are crimped to the wire terminal to assure the positive position of the cavity seal in the connectable object housing cavity. Within EPLAN Harness proD, cavity seals can be placed on a pin with a connected wire.

Cavity seals can be inserted manually (see below) or by means of the AutoAttach parts function. To use the AutoAttach parts function for cavity seals, the cavity seals have to be assigned to a connectable object in Library and they have to be created prior to the connectable object.

To insert a cavity seal on a grouped pin, select the Place cavity seal command and click on the grouped pin. In the subsequent dialog you are prompted to determine which real pin you want the cavity seal to be inserted on. Here, only the usable pins are shown.

A cavity seal receives the wire harness identifier of the connectable object which it is attached to.

  1. Select the Insert > Place cavity seal menu items or the button on the toolbar.

The Part navigator dialog is opened.
  2. Select the desired cavity seal and click [OK].

The Part navigator dialog is closed.

If a suitable object had been selected before clicking the Place cavity seal button, the cavity seal will be placed upon clicking [OK].
  3. Insert the cavity seal by clicking on a supported object, in this case a connected pin or a grouped pin (for inserting on grouped pins, see above).

All selectable objects are highlighted when you move the mouse over them.
  4. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Place cavity seal button again, if desired.
