ETIM stands for ElectroTechnical InformationModel and is a parts classification model for electrical engineering, which comprehensively and clearly describes the properties of electronic products in a standardized form. To achieve this, parts are classified in a hierarchically flat structure, consisting of part classes with descriptive characteristics. This provides a better overview and simplifies searching for individual products, by assigning every product to a product class described by different objective product properties, such as dimensions or power consumption.
ETIM also stands for a standardized data exchange format for parts master data. The electrical engineering wholesaler organizations belonging to this group have agreed on a unified exchange format.
ETIM is a member of eCl@ss and vice versa. This ensures that both classification models are harmonized.
