Checking Address Ranges of PLC Cards

The new check runs 004106 and 004107 are available to you in the message class 004 "PLC / bus" to check whether addresses are located outside the address range of the PLC card or whether address ranges of multiple PLC cards overlap. If you want to use these check runs, a data length has to be specified at the PLC cards in addition to the start address. The address range is determined from the start address and the data length (this means the number of occupied bits). You enter the data length in the following new properties:

Benefit:

During the assignment of start addresses at PLC cards, errors may easily occur if the previous PLC card is not fully occupied. Thanks to the new properties for the data length, address areas can now be reserved and double occupations be detected.

Note that there are PLC cards, for example technology modules, which are only assigned to a few inputs / outputs, but still require a larger address range. Always enter the maximum required size for the address ranges of the inputs / outputs here.

The data length can also be specified for the PLC subdevices. To this purpose the following properties are available for each of the 12 possible PLC subdevices:

Note:

For data exchange in the "SIEMENS STEP 7 Classic" format the renamed properties Address range (SIEMENS STEP 7 Classic) and Address range 2 (SIEMENS STEP 7 Classic) are available. In these properties enter the size of the address range within the PLC controller that is occupied by the card here, for example "4". Depending on the PLC card used a specification either in bits or bytes is required here. You can use the Address range 2 (SIEMENS STEP 7 Classic) property to specify a separate size for the address range of the outputs.
