Dialog PLC - <Project name>

In this dialog, the existing PLC data in the project can be selectively displayed in the tree or list view and edited.

Here, you can edit all the data for an entire PLC or single PLC cards. Every card is listed with the card data, the power supply connection points, the addresses (channels), and the connection points belonging to the addresses. PLC boxes and connection points can also be created.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

The PLC data is displayed in the Tree view sorted according to the project structure. You can select different views for the display of the PLC data here. Depending on the selected view, the PLC objects are differentiated by the following preceding icons:

Icon

Meaning

Configuration project (address-oriented view)

Station (address-oriented view)

CPU (address-oriented view)

Channel-oriented (channel-oriented view)

Rack (rack-oriented view)

PLC card is placed on a rack (rack-oriented view)

PLC card is placed on a rack and is a rack (rack-oriented view)

PLC card is placed on a head station or is integrated into it (rack-oriented view)

PLC card is placed on a head station and is a rack (rack-oriented view)

Unassigned or invalid rack ID (rack-oriented view)

(An overview on the most important icons for project data can be found in the Icons in the Navigators topic.)

Tip:

In the tree view the parts assigned to a PLC card are now also displayed. If you have marked such a part, you can use Drag & Drop to place the macro that is linked to the part on a project page. Since you can select different views for the display of the PLC data in the PLC navigator, the desired items with the assigned parts can be found rapidly.

As the standard, the list view displays the automatic function text, the addresses and the symbolic addresses. All other PLC properties can also be displayed.

Filter:

This drop-down list displays all the available filters. A selected filter is automatically activated and is applied to both the tree and the list view. The "- Not activated -" entry deactivates the filter and causes an unfiltered display of the data. Click [...] to open the Filter dialog. Here you can create, edit, delete, copy, export, import, and manage filters.

The popup menu of the Filter drop-down list contains the following entries:

This allows you to toggle rapidly between the unfiltered representation and a representation filtered in accordance with your requirements.

Value: <Property>:

Use this field, via Quick input, to adjust quickly the value of a filter criterion for a defined and activated filter.

Popup menu:

Menu item

Meaning

Select all (list only)

Selects all of the entries in the list.

Adjust column width (list only)

Adjusts the width of all table columns so that both the headings and column contents are fully legible.

New

Opens the Function definitions dialog so that you can add PLC connection points or boxes with pre-defined properties. Depending on the object selected, the Function definitions dialog will open the tree view for selecting a function definition. If, for example, you have opened the popup menu on a function, the associated function definition will be selected in the tree view.

New functions

Opens the Generate functions dialog that allows you to generate multiple functions for a new or existing DT using a specific numbering pattern.

New device

Opens the Part selection dialog allowing the creation of a device.

Delete

Following a prompt, this deletes all selected functions or - in the tree view - all functions below the selected tree structure level. (Multiple selection of functions or tree structure levels is possible here.) Both placed and unplaced functions will be deleted. When a placed function is deleted, the placing is also deleted at the same time in the graphical editor or layout space.

Note:

Please note that when deleting placed functions, the existing connections in the projects can also be modified. New connections can arise or connections can be deleted.

Place

Places the selected function in the schematic. Before the actual placing press [Shift] in order to start the placement action in the mode "Individual functions". Press [Backspace] to open the dialog Place device and, if required, for example open the macro selection or change the representation type.

Assign

This menu item is available if a project page is open and a DT / function / function template is selected in the navigator. It hangs the function description of the (first highlighted) function on the cursor and allows for this function to be moved to a component and to assign it with a single click. You can, for instance, assign an unplaced function to a component, or transfer the data of an already placed function to another component. An assigned function must have as many or more connection points than the component. If several functions or the DT have been selected, all selected functions can be assigned consecutively. This can be done either individually by mouse-click or blockwise by opening a frame around the required components.

Edit

This menu item is available when a rack is marked. Opens the Edit rack dialog in which you specify the order of the PLC card on this rack.

Addressing

This menu item is available when PLC connection points are selected. Opens the Readdress PLC connection points dialog in which you readdress an area of PLC connection points within a PLC control system.

Edit revision marker

This menu item allows you to edit the revision marker texts and their format. This menu item is only available when a changed object in a revision is selected.

Delete revision marker

This menu item allows you to delete the revision marker texts. This menu item is only available when a changed object in a revision is selected.

Go to (cross-referenced)

Enters cross-referenced functions into the Go to list and opens it.

Go to (all representation types)

Enters all of the representation types of a function (e.g., on a schematic page, an overview page, and / or a report page) into the Go to list and opens it.

Go to (graphic)

Jumps to the first placed object containing a reference to the selected PLC connection point or box.

Insert into list of search results

Enters all objects in a project referring to the selected element into the search results list.

List with preselection (tree only)

Reduces the number of elements displayed in order to allow for a faster orientation in the list view. If this option is activated, the list view is called up with an automatic filter (preselection) containing the elements that are currently selected.

Select in tree (list only)

Displays the marked object in the Tree tab.

Configure representation

Opens the Configure representation dialog, where you define which properties are to be displayed in the list and tree view.

View (tree only)

Switches the display in the tree view:

  • DT-oriented: The PLC data is structured by their device tags according to the project structure.
  • Address-oriented: The PLC data is structured by addresses within the project structure.
  • Channel-oriented: The PLC data is structured by channels within the project structure. PLC connection points that do not have a channel designation are ordered by DT.
  • Rack-oriented: The PLC data is displayed in accordance with the assignment of the PLC cards to the racks. The functions contained by the PLC cards are displayed below these.

Edit in table

Opens tabular editing, with the possibility of editing the properties of the PLC connection points or boxes.
