Routing Accessories: Principle

Routing accessories are used to mount, bundle, and protect cable and tube connections. The three accessory types are parts with the following function definitions:

The parts are inserted with the menu items Insert > Routing accessories. When placing the routing accessories, all usual options in the layout space and the Placement options dialog are available.

Cable / tubing clamp

Routing accessories to mount tubes, cables, and single conductors with a large conductor cross-section; in general practice, for example, cable or tube clamps are used.

The graphic of the "Cable / tubing clamp" routing accessories can be represented by a 3D graphical macro assigned to the part or generated from the part dimensions. In the former case, the macro must contain a routing path; in the latter, this will be generated automatically.

The part can be placed on a mounting surface.

Note:

To guide a connection through an already placed cable / tubing clamp, the connection must be routed by means of the Change route function through the clamp as a target routing path.

Cable / tubing tie

Routing accessories to combine tubes, cables, and single conductors into a bundle.

When the part is created, the manufacturer's values are entered on the Routing accessories data tab for the part properties Minimum bundle diameter and Maximum bundle diameter. The bundle diameter indicates the minimum or maximum diameter of a bundle of connections that must be met in order to bundle them with this part.

To ensure correct calculation of the bundle diameters, an external diameter (including unit) must be defined at the part of the connection on the Connection data tab.

The "Cable / tubing tie" routing accessories bundle connections that have been routed in a routing path or curve. The part can be placed anywhere on a routing path or curve. After the placement, the cable / tubing tie encloses, as a ring, the routing path or curve concentrically.

Cable / tubing protection

Routing accessories to protect bundled tubes, cables, and single conductors against mechanical and thermal effects from the outside; in general practice, spiral coiled tubes are used, for example.

When the part is created, the manufacturer's values are entered on the Routing accessories data tab for the part properties Minimum bundle diameter and Maximum bundle diameter.

To ensure correct calculation of the bundle diameters, an external diameter (including unit) must be defined at the part of the connection on the Connection data tab.

The "Cable / tubing protection" routing accessories bundle connections that have been routed in a routing path or curve. The part can be placed anywhere on a routing path or curve. The part is placed by entering a starting and end point on one or several contiguous routing paths or curves. After the placement, the cable / tubing protection encloses, as a ring, the routing path or curve concentrically.
