Dialog Settings: Compatibility

In this dialog you specify settings which only exist for reasons of compatibility to previous EPLAN versions. We recommend not to use these settings in new projects since they will not be supported by EPLAN in the long run.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Adopt connection point designation:

If this check box is activated, the connection point designations of the functions are displayed in the properties dialog of a function (tab <Function category>, field Connection point designation) that adopt the DT from the current function.

If the check box is deactivated, only the connection point designations of the current function are displayed in the properties dialog. No connection point designations are carried over to other functions.

Zoom in text:

If this check box is activated, texts will be enlarged by about 20%, as in previous EPLAN versions. We recommend that you only use this check box when you wish to preserve the layout of projects created with previous EPLAN versions. Please note that the text lengths and line spacing are slightly different from "previous versions".

If the check box is not activated, the display and output of texts will be true to scale.

Allow structure setting 'Superior' that is not norm-compliant:

If this check box is activated, the Superior setting is displayed for specific devices (terminal strips, plugs, cables or interruption points) in the Structure tab of the project properties. This setting allows you to treat corresponding devices that do not contain a "−" preceding sign in the DT like sequentially numbered devices. This is not norm-compliant for a project structure with specified identifier blocks (for example higher-level function, mounting location) and is only contained in the program for historical reasons.

If the check box is deactivated the Superior setting is not displayed in the properties of this project.

Notes:

Use 'Connections' tab at terminals and pins:

If this check box is activated, the Connections tab is displayed in the property dialog of terminals and pins and the settings made there are used. By using the settings in this tab you can report the targets of terminal connections and pins deviating from the graphic. The connection point logic settings of the terminal / pin are not changed by this.

The usage of the Connections tab also has an effect on the dialog Edit terminal strip. In the target-oriented view the popup menu item Connection point: Swap Internal / External is used not to swap the terminal connection points but rather the terminal targets.

If this check box is deactivated, the Connections tab for terminals and pins is hidden and not used. The terminals / pins are always reported in accordance with the settings in the connection point logic. The reports thus always correspond to the configuration in the schematic. You can continue to configure all the wiring variants through the remaining settings and a unique schematic.

Allow terminals as main functions:

If this check box is activated, the Main function property can be assigned to terminals. To this purpose the Main function check box is now deactivated in the property dialog of terminals in the Symbol / function data tab. This corresponds to the behavior in EPLAN versions before Version 2.6.

If the check box is deactivated, terminals cannot be main functions. Correspondingly the Main function check box is always deactivated and grayed out in the property dialog of terminals in the Symbol / function data tab.

Note:

We recommend that only the Main terminal property be used for terminals and that the Main function property not be used.

Reports: Replace identical function texts:

In a report page, it can happen that functions are output for which the function text is identical, thus being repeated in the display. If this check box is selected, then repeated function texts placed below each other will be replaced with a replacement character. The replacement character is specified via the setting Replace identical texts by (under the menu items Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Reports > Display / output).

Show bus interface name in target information:

Since Version 2.8 the combination of bus interface name and plug designation is used for the identification of the bus ports.

If this check box is activated, the bus interface name of the bus ports is shown in addition to the plug designation wherever target information is displayed. This affects amongst others the display of source and target of connections, the tree view of the connection navigator, cross-references, reports, the display of targets in the Edit terminal strip and Edit plug dialogs, etc.

If the check box is deactivated, only the plug designation is shown when target information is displayed. This corresponds to the behavior in EPLAN versions before Version 2.8.

Handle distributed terminals for export / import of wire harness data separately:

If this check box is activated, distributed terminals are exported as separated lines during the export of wire harness data. This corresponds to the behavior in EPLAN versions before Version 2.8.
Accordingly the check box must be activated during the import if the import file contains separate lines for distributed terminals.

If the check box is deactivated distributed terminals are combined as wire harness data during the export. This means there is only one line per terminal in the export file.
The check box must accordingly be activated during the import if each import file contains one line per terminal with the combined data of the distributed terminals.
