Importing EPLAN Pro Panel Data into Workspace

To import EPLAN Pro Panel data into a workspace, an EPLAN project *.elk has to be used.

Prerequisite:

A workspace is opened. Either of EPLAN Electric P8, EPLAN Pro Panel, or EPLAN Fluid is installed.

Importing EPLAN Pro Panel project data

  1. Select the File > Import from EPLAN menu items.

The Import from EPLAN wizard is opened.
  2. Select the EPLAN project option to directly import data from an EPLAN Electric P8 project, and browse to the *.elk file.
  3. Select the type of license to be used when importing data from the EPLAN Electric P8 project by selecting it in the Select license type drop-down list. Depending on the licensed and installed products on your computer, the following licenses may be available:
    • EPLAN Electric P8
    • EPLAN Pro Panel
    • EPLAN Fluid.
  4. Click [Next].
  5. Select the appropriate license if the Select license dialog comes up.
  6. In the Data filter step of the wizard, switch to the Layout spaces tab.

    Note:

Layout spaces tab is used to select geometry from Pro Panel; Wire harness tab is still used to import schematics. Any selected objects from both tabs are always imported together.

  7. Select the All layout spaces option to include all layout spaces, or simply select the desired ones to be imported individually from the list.
  8. Activate the Import terminals / connectable objects option to import terminals / terminal strips and other connectable objects.
  9. Activate the Automatically place terminals / connectable objects / special electrical components option to place the terminals / terminal strips and other connectable objects automatically. Note that only terminals / connectable objects that exist in the library are placed automatically.
  10. Select all other options to choose which objects to import (enclosures, wire ducts, busbars, ...). Note that the Import wires option only imports wires from EPLAN Pro Panel as non-native geometrical entities.
  11. Click [Finish].

Selected wire harness and layout space data is imported.

Re-importing EPLAN Pro Panel project data

In Pro Panel when a part is added or removed from the layout and the layout is re-imported into workspace, this part will also be added or removed to the layout in Harness proD (except from the enclosure itself, which always remains). Newly added parts should also adopt the appropriate position relative to the rest of the enclosure, even if the enclosure has been moved within the workspace environment.
