Leading Parts, Clips, Grommets

A leading part can be either a clip or a grommet or a combined leading part element composed of a point or trajectory based on a leading element. The leading part is represented by its shape, a leading path (or several paths) with its end points and / or a clip point. The leading parts are mainly used to lead or hold wires, bundles, and / or cables.

Once the leading part is placed in the working window, there is an additional function which allows to connect the leading part with other objects, mainly bundles and wires. The Merge control points command can be used to pull a wire, bundle, etc. through a clip: Activate the function, then click on a wire / bundle control point, and finally click on the clip. The control point will be placed on the clip.
The command also allows to place one end of a bundle (or its derivative) to one end of a leading path: Click on an end point of a bundle, then select the end point of a leading part. The two end points will be connected.

The Route path segment command allows for routing a bundle / wire / cable through a leading path or a clip point: First click on a bundle (or wire or cable) path or an existing bundle control point (not an end point). Then select an end point on a leading part where the bundle is to enter. In the last step, pick an end point where the bundle is to exit. The same method can be used to lead a bundle / wire / cable path through a clip.

Other manual routing commands (Manual route, Semi-auto route) do not work with control points in the first step and require selection of a whole bundle (or wire / cable) body. The routing into a clip or a leading path is then done in the same way as described above for the Route path segment command.
