Inserting Cavity Plugs

A cavity plug is designed to fill a cavity seal's unused cavities. Within EPLAN Harness proD, a cavity plug can be placed on a pin with no wire connected.

Cavity plugs can be inserted manually (see below) or by means of the AutoAttach parts function. To use the AutoAttach parts function for cavity plugs, the cavity plugs have to be assigned to a connectable object in Library and they have to be created prior to the connectable object.

To insert a cavity plug on a grouped pin, select the Place cavity plug command and click on the grouped pin. In the subsequent dialog you are prompted to determine which real pin you want the cavity plug to be inserted on. Here, only the usable pins are shown.

A cavity plug receives the wire harness identifier of the connectable object which it is attached to.

  1. Select the Insert > Place cavity plug menu items or the button on the toolbar.

The Part navigator dialog is opened.
  2. Select the desired cavity plug and click [OK].

The Part navigator dialog is closed.

If a suitable object had been selected before clicking the Place cavity plug button, the cavity plug will be placed upon clicking [OK].
  3. Insert the cavity plug by clicking on a supported object, in this case an empty pin, a grouped pin, or a special component.

All selectable objects are highlighted when you move the mouse over them.
  4. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Place cavity plug button again, if desired.
