Creating Dimensions

Dimensions are used to measure distances and create a label with the measured value. To create a dimension, you can use the mouse and the keyboard. Both techniques can be combined.

Using the mouse

  1. Click the Dimension button on the toolbar.
  2. Determine the starting position for the first leader line of the dimension label in the 2D working window (you can also use the Key points function to anchor the line to a key point).
  3. Determine the starting point for the second leader line of the dimension label.
  4. Determine the position for the dimension text and click to place.
  5. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Dimension button again, if desired.

Using the command bar

  1. Click the Dimension button on the toolbar.
  2. Determine the X and Y coordinates of the starting position for the first leader line in the command bar and confirm with [OK].
  3. Determine the next point (the starting point for the second leader line) in the same way or switch to the Distance command in the command bar and determine the Length and Angle values of the segment.
  4. Determine the font properties for the text, along with its position, and click [OK].
  5. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Dimension button again, if desired.
