Creating Cuboids

To create a cuboid, you can use the mouse and the keyboard. Both techniques can be combined.

Note:

When placing objects, you can choose to place them freely, on a key point, anywhere on a particular surface, or anywhere on a particular plane. You can also combine these options, e.g. you can choose to place an object on a particular plane and then on a particular key point on that plane. Just use the corresponding button or shortcut. See Construction aids for details.

Using the mouse

  1. Click the Create cuboid button on the toolbar.
  2. Determine the first point of the cuboid by clicking on the desired location in the 3D working window.
  3. Determine the second point (the width), the third point (the depth), and the last point (the height) in the same way.
  4. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Create cuboid button again, if desired.

Using command bar and mouse

  1. Click the Create cuboid button on the toolbar.
  2. Determine the X and Y (and Z) coordinates of the first point in the command bar and confirm with [OK].
  3. Determine the second point (width) in the same way or switch to the Distance command in the command bar and determine the Length value of the first segment. Then select the destination point with the mouse and click.
  4. Determine the third point (depth) and the fourth point (height) in the same way.
  5. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Create cuboid button again, if desired.

Properties

Existing cuboids can be edited in the properties panel. The properties common to all 3D objects are described in the 3D Object Properties section of this help file.
