Using the Material Editor in Workspace / Workdesk

In Harness proD Library, a material may be added to any type of surface protection and, via the properties panel, to imported 3D files (such as stp files and other formats), and to library elements such as cuboids, cones, cylinders, etc.

In the Harness proD Studio workspace / workdesk, a material may be added to existing bundles, parts, backshells, connector housings, and imported 3D files (such as stp files and other formats). The material is used in the workspace / workdesk when the component is placed. How the colors and textures are displayed in the workspace / workdesk depends on the current view.

If you want to remove assigned material from an object, select the object in the workspace / workdesk and, in the properties panel, open the Material drop-down list and select the Reset entry.

Changes of the material made in the workspace / workdesk do not change the material in EPLAN Harness proD Library.

  1. In the properties panel, open the Material drop-down list and select the Edit entry.

The Material editor wizard is opened.
  2. In the Name and preview group box, enter the name of the material.
  3. In the Material properties group box, determine the properties Diffuse color (basic material color), Ambient color (color of the surrounding environment), Emissive color (color emitted from the component), Specular color (reflective stripe / spot color, depending on the shape of the component), Specular exponent (size of the specular color spot), and Transparency (transparency of the material).

The preview is updated according to the changes made in the dialog.
  4. In the Textures group box, open the drop-down list of the desired texture and click [Browse] to open a file selection dialog and add the desired image.

The Diffuse map texture defines the main color of the surface.

The Normal map texture refers to a technique used for faking the lighting of bumps and dents.

The Reflection map texture is used to add a touch of reflection to an otherwise non-reflective surface.
  5. Click [Delete] to remove an existing texture image.
  6. Click [OK] to save the changes and close the Material editor wizard.
  7. Or click [Reset] to revert the changes.
