Creating Grouped Pins

A grouped pin is a pin container which contains all pins (stores all pins of a connectable object - connector, connectable object, terminal - in one element).

A cable can only be connected to a connectable object containing a grouped pin. One connectable object can contain only one grouped pin (it cannot even be combined with pins). To create a grouped pin, you can use the mouse and the keyboard. Both techniques can be combined.

Note:

When placing objects, you can choose to place them freely, on a key point, anywhere on a particular surface, or anywhere on a particular plane. You can also combine these options, e.g. you can choose to place an object on a particular plane and then on a particular key point on that plane. Just use the corresponding button or shortcut. See Construction aids for details.

Using the mouse

  1. Click the Create grouped pin button on the toolbar.
  2. Click on the desired location in the 3D working window.

Using command bar and mouse

  1. Click the Create grouped pin button on the toolbar.
  2. Determine the X, Y and Z coordinates and specify the desired radius of the grouped pin in the command bar and confirm with [OK].

Properties

Existing grouped pins can be edited in the properties panel. The properties common to all 3D objects are described in the 3D Object Properties section of this help file.

The grouped pin properties relevant to wire or cable connecting can be set in the connector (connector, connectable object, terminal) properties.

The Number of pins property specifies the number of pins represented by the grouped pin. This value is interconnected with the Detail pin settings section of the connector (connector, connectable object, terminal) properties panel.
