Inserting Nails

A nail is used to mark the point where a bundle will be bent on a physical model. More than one nail can be connected to a control point, i.e., the nail remains in a relative position to the control point when you move the segment. It can, however, also be placed with a specified offset from the control point. If the nail is placed on a control point from which no bundle, surface protection, cable, etc. is branched off (hereafter called "path"), the offset is perpendicular to the path. If the control point has an angled branch, the offset is a center axis of the angle. If an offset of "0" is specified, the nail symbol (not the center of the nail symbol) is placed on the edge of the path.

The nail symbol can be determined in the nailboard settings. It is possible to use the default symbol or select a different one from the library.

Notes:

  1. Select the Insert > Nail menu items or the button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the control point (if not preselected) to which the nail is to be connected by clicking.
  3. To place the nail without an offset either specify the X and Y coordinates in the command bar or click anywhere in the nailboard working window.
  4. To place the nail with an offset, either specify the offset in the command bar or leave its "0" value.
  5. Move the mouse around the control point.

When you hover the mouse over the correct offset distance and angle, the mouse cursor movement with the nail symbol gets visibly stopped.
  6. Left-click to place the nail.
  7. If, however, you move the mouse even when the movement is stopped, the mouse will move after a while.

The nail can still be placed freely, without the offset.
