Complex Entities Overview

Complex entities allow the re-use of the design of existing wire harnesses either in the same or in a different project.

A complex entity can be created by simply using the Copy ([Ctrl] + [C]) and Paste ([Ctrl] + [V]) commands in the workspace / workdesk.

When a new complex entity is created or imported, a new node is added under the Complex entities node in the workspace / workdesk tree view. Objects which are part of the complex entity are listed there and under the corresponding nodes in the tree view (e.g. wires are added under the Wires node, connectors are added under the Connectable objects node, etc.).

Depending on how the complex entity was created, it is either named after the workspace / workdesk document it was created in or after the first object added to it or it is simply designated Complex entity:x, with x representing a numbered index.

Objects can be added to and removed from complex entities.

A workspace complex entity can be pasted or imported to the same or a different workspace in the same or a different project or even to another running instance of EPLAN Harness proD Studio.

A workdesk complex entity can be pasted or imported to the same or a different workdesk and workspace in the same or a different project or even to another running instance of EPLAN Harness proD Studio.

Complex entities can be moved and rotated as a whole, and they can be deleted.
