Absolute and Relative Measurements

Absolute and relative measurements are available in the workdesk environment in the command bar when placing certain types of components (i.e. bundles, wires, and cables).

Absolute measurement

Absolute measurement in a Cartesian coordinate system means that the X axis and Y axis value is measured from the center point [0,0] to the control point to be currently placed.

Absolute measurement in a polar coordinate system means that the angle is measured between the bisector parallel to the X axis and collinear with the last placed control point bisector and the bisector that goes virtually through the last placed control point and the control point to be currently placed.

Relative measurement

Relative measurement in a Cartesian coordinate system means that the X axis and Y axis dimensioning is relative to the last placed control point and to the control point to be currently placed.

Relative measurement in a polar coordinate system means that the angle is measured between the bisector that goes virtually through the last two placed control points and the bisector that goes virtually through the last placed control point and the control point to be currently placed. The distance is measured from the last placed control point to the currently placed control point.
