Creating Annotations

An annotation is an auxiliary object. It is basically a label or a note, usually connected to an object to describe it or provide additional information. To create an annotation, you can use the mouse and the keyboard. Both techniques can be combined.

Note:

When placing objects, you can choose to place them freely, on a key point, anywhere on a particular surface, or anywhere on a particular plane. You can also combine these options, e.g. you can choose to place an object on a particular plane and then on a particular key point on that plane. Just use the corresponding button or shortcut. See Construction aids for details.

Using the mouse

  1. Click the Create annotation button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the position for the annotation by clicking on the desired location in the 3D working window. You can anchor it to a key point, or place it freely anywhere you choose. When you select to connect it to a key point, a line will be created, connecting the key point to the annotation.
  3. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Create annotation button again, if desired.

Using command bar and mouse

  1. Click the Create annotation button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the font, font properties, and the text to be displayed, and press [Enter].
  3. Select the position for the annotation by clicking on the desired location in the 3D working window.
  4. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Create annotation button again, if desired.

Properties

Existing annotations can be edited in the properties panel. The properties common to all 3D objects are described in the 3D Properties Panel section of this help file.
