Connectors, Connectable Objects, Terminals

"Connectable object" is a generic term for any component within EPLAN Harness proD Studio to which wires are connected. The connectable object is represented by connectors, connectable objects, terminals and special components. Each connectable object's pins have a so-called "full pin name", and "connection point designation". In addition, a connectable object has a "Plug designation", connector has a "pin designation" and a terminal has a "level" and a "terminal designation".

There are four pin types that you can use with a connectable object:

Only the library can be used to define the type of pin used with a connector.

Only a ribbon cable can be connected to a connectable object including a ribbon grouped pin. Inline ribbon grouped pins can only be placed within a ribbon cable.

To define the relation between the ribbon grouped pin and the wires, use the appropriate editor. You can find the Connections button in the properties panel in the General section (you must first select the pin or the connector).

If the Wire harness separator check box in the Advanced section of the properties of a connectable object is activated, the wire harness is not propagated through such a connector to another wire or cable.

In the Part navigator dialog it is possible to use a query to narrow the selection down to connectors with a certain number of pins and / or of a certain pin type by including normal pins (), grouped pins (), ribbon grouped pins (), and inline ribbon grouped pins ().
