Creating Attached Documents

Documents related to a library component (e.g. supplier documentation, text documents, images, etc.) can be attached. The attached documents can be either linked to a location (typically to a company network folder); the linked document can then be opened from this directory and is thus always up-to-date. Or the attached document is added to the library component. It then may have no relation at all to the original document and changes of the original will not affect the added one. Or a simple hyperlink can be added to a website.

Attached documents are exported and imported as part of the library / category / part export / import.

  1. Open an existing component or create a new component.
  2. Switch to the Additional info tab.
  3. Click [Add] to add the desired document, link or hyperlink in the Attached documents section.

    If the document is added to the project, by selecting the Download file check box, the Attached check box is checked in the table.

    Depending on whether the document is added or linked, the document name or the path to the document respectively is displayed in the table.

    Text can be added to the Description field.

    A preview is created.
  4. If the appropriate software is installed, the document can be directly opened by double-clicking it in the table.

The Attached documents section is displayed in the properties panel if the component has any attached documents and is selected in the workspace / workdesk / nailboard working window.
