Connection to an EPLAN Platform Master Data SQL Database: Overview

EPLAN Harness proD Library can be connected directly to existing EPLAN platform master data SQL databases. Please note that EPLAN Harness proD Library cannot create the EPLAN platform SQL master data database.

All EPLAN Harness proD components are exchanged with the EPLAN platform master data database. Exchange between the two libraries is in real-time. If you edit / create a component in EPLAN Harness proD Library, it is immediately included in the EPLAN platform master data SQL database and vice versa. In the EPLAN Harness proD Library category tree view, right-click and select the Reload categories menu items to refresh the library. In the EPLAN platform master data click [F5] to refresh the display.

Connectors, cables, ribbon cables, wires, splices, terminals, assemblies, devices, and wire terminals are usually synchronized to the Generic product group = "Electrical engineering" entry and to their respective Product group and Product subgroup classifications; if no suitable classification can be determined, they are usually mapped to the Product subgroup = "Undefined" entry in the EPLAN platform master data SQL database.

Motors and PLCs from the EPLAN platform SQL master data database are synchronized to the so-called "connectable objects" category.

Components from parts or connector components, leading parts, attached parts and other components and the surface protections' groups are synchronized to the Generic product group = "Mechanics", Product group = "Undefined", and Product subgroup = "Undefined" entry in the EPLAN platform SQL master data database.

2D elements are synchronized to the Generic product group = "Undefined", Product group = "Undefined", and Product subgroup = "Undefined" entry in the EPLAN platform SQL master data database.

By default, EPLAN Harness proD Library has the Type > Supplier category tree structure, with "Type" meaning the component, for instance connectors, drawing borders, and so on. The category tree structure can be changed in the EPLAN Harness proD Library settings.

If a component is created in EPLAN Harness proD Library without assigning any data in the Part numbers table, the component is displayed directly in the category type; if, however, the category Not set exists, the component is also listed in this category.

Notes:

Components in the EPLAN platform master data can exist without assigned properties even though these are mandatory in EPLAN Harness proD. Those components are displayed in red color in EPLAN Harness proD. This means that - to be able to use this particular component in EPLAN Harness proD - the user must edit the component and determine all the mandatory properties. In EPLAN Harness proD Studio, such components are part of the Part navigator dialog, but it is not possible to place them.
