Placing Symbols

A symbol is a 2D representation, imported from Library. It can, e.g., be an electrical symbol. There can be more than one 2D drawing for each symbol, depending on how many were created in Library. Assigning the symbol to a control point can be helpful if you want the symbol to remain in the same relative position to the control point, even when the segment containing the control point is moved. You can also assign existing part symbols to a control point subsequently by using the Add to wire harness / Add to cable unit command.

  1. Select the Insert > Symbol menu items or the button on the toolbar.

The Select symbol dialog is opened.
  2. Select the symbol and click [OK].
  3. Click anywhere in the working window to place the symbol, or enter the X and Y coordinates in the command bar.

The symbol's bottom left-hand corner is placed where you clicked.
  4. Or, if you prefer, select a control point by clicking and then click in the working window to place the symbol.

The control point is assigned to the symbol.
  5. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Place symbol button again, if desired.
