The formula editor allows for determining values or displaying conditions for text. The properties offered in this editor are context-sensitive, i.e., the displayed properties depend on the location from where you opened the editor. If you open the formula editor, e.g., from the label decoration editor, label properties are available; if you open it from a connectable object symbol, then connector-specific, connectable object-specific and terminal properties are available, etc.
The formula editor shows which value must be used last to be able to define the formula:
- If you opened the formula editor from a Display condition element, a Boolean value must be used last.
- If you opened the formula editor from an External value element, a text value must be used last.
- If you have defined several values in the formula editor, you can go back any number of steps by clicking any item. All previous items are then removed. For instance, if you have defined the Connectable object symbol > Connectable object > Lead time properties in the Connectable object symbol > External value formula, click the Connectable object item to remove the Lead time item.
The following is an example of the External value decoration defined for a Connectable object symbol item and showing the Quantity: <Quantity/packaging> property value within the connectable object symbol.
- Select the Connectable object symbol entry in the Nailboard / cable drawing display configuration set editor dialog.
- Click to add a decoration.
- Select the External value entry, and open the Formula editor.
- Go to the Connectable object symbol > Connectable object > Quantity/packaging > Text path.
- Into the Prefix field, enter the Quantity: text (including a blank space behind the colon).
- Determine the Orientation of the decoration.
- Click [OK] to determine the external value.
The following text is displayed within the connectable object symbol: Quantity: <Quantity/packaging>. The Quantity/packaging value is filled from the connector's library property.
The following is an example of a Display condition decoration defined for a Connectable object symbol item. The condition is: If the connector is to be part of the bill of materials, the decoration is displayed. If the connector is not to be contained in the bill of materials, the decoration is not displayed.
- Select the Connectable object symbol entry in the Nailboard / cable drawing display configuration set editor dialog.
- Click to add a decoration.
- Select the External value entry, and open the Formula editor.
- Go to the Connectable object symbol > Connector > In bill of materials path. This property already contains a Boolean condition.
- Click [OK].
The display condition is created.
