A workstation should have the following properties:
Property | Requirement |
---|---|
Processor | Multicore CPU, not older than 3 years, with 3 GHz clock speed. |
RAM | At least 3 GB. The application alone, without data, requires 120 MB of internal memory. The size of the application model is a decisive factor. When dealing with very large models, there must be enough RAM if a Externalize is to be avoided. |
Hard disk | The size of the hard drive and the access time are very important for the database server, but less important for the EEC installation. Around 600 MB of hard-disk space is required for the installation. |
Network card | The network card should support at least 100 Mbit/s. For client-server installations, 1 Gbit/s is recommended. |
Monitor | The EEC is designed to support multiple-monitor configurations. Experience has shown that work efficiency improves significantly when two-monitor solutions are used. |
If the RAM requirements for very large models is greater than the actually available memory, this will be covered by the Windows operating system automatically, by externalizing a part of the RAM to the hard disk.
