Alignment Commands

These commands allow for aligning objects within the space of the 3D working window.

Each command works with a source and a target object. The source object is the one which is being moved to the target object.

Alignment commands can be applied to all user-created objects except for annotations. Reference planes can be used as a target object only.

Note:

These commands just move objects, they do not create any relationships.

Surface on surface

This command allows to place the surfaces of two objects onto each other or to create a surface parallelism of two objects (if an offset has been set).

Note:

The Surface on surface command cannot be used when the wire render mode is set. See Render Settings for details.

  1. Click the Surface on surface button on the toolbar.
  2. Set the surfaces' offset in the command bar. If the offset is not set (or set to zero), surfaces are placed directly onto each other.
  3. Select the desired surface of the source object.
  4. Select the desired surface of the target object.

The source object surface is moved to the target object surface (or parallel to it if an offset has been specified).

Note:

Surface selection is made when you left-click on the highlighted surface.

Point on point

This command allows to place the key points of two objects onto each other.

  1. Click the Point on point button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the desired key point of the source object.
  3. Select the desired key point of the target object.

The source object key point is moved to the target object key point, with the original angle of rotation being retained.

Note:

Key point selection is made when you left-click on the highlighted key point.

Edge on edge

This command allows to place the edges of two objects onto each other.

  1. Click the Edge on edge button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the desired edge of the source object.
  3. Select the desired edge of the target object.

The source object edge is moved to the target object edge.

Note:

Edge selection is made when you left-click on the highlighted edge.
