Rapid Prototyping

Rapid prototyping in EPLAN Harness proD Studio can be defined as a technique used to quickly develop a full or partial model in the least possible time by typically using three-dimensional CAD data. Rapid prototyping is focused on functionality rather than on other aspects of creating the desired result and is aimed at reducing the complex process of developing and manufacturing the desired model in a relatively straightforward, simple and fast process.

EPLAN Harness proD provides rapid prototyping parts such as rapid prototyping wires, rapid prototyping cables, rapid prototyping ribbon cables, rapid prototyping connectable objects, rapid prototyping ribbon connectable objects, and rapid prototyping special components. Rapid prototyping parts offer fast and flexible ways for creating the desired design; they are used without EPLAN Harness proD Library, but instead are generated in EPLAN Harness proD Studio. Each rapid prototyping part can be modified prior to placement in EPLAN Harness proD Studio and, except for rapid prototyping cables, can be replaced by a library item anytime in the Tasks panel or via the Replace command. Rapid prototyping parts are available in both the workspace and workdesk environment. If you decide to keep these parts in the workspace / workdesk, a nailboard / cable drawing can be derived from such a workspace / workdesk.

Rapid prototyping parts are not displayed in the Placement history panel, and it is not possible to add them to bookmarks. Otherwise they have no limitations, with their behavior being the same as their respective counterparts in the library apart from minor nuances which are described in the Rapid Prototyping Parts help section. Rapid prototyping parts have their own icons in the tree view of the workspace, workdesk, nailboard and cable drawing environments.
