The EPLAN Harness proD library's main dialog appears in two basic views, the so-called "Part view" and the "Library view". Part view is active if a part is opened for editing or a new one has been created. Library view is active when the Library tab is selected; this view serves to display and manage the contents of the currently opened library.
Categories
By default, the Categories panel is situated on top of the left-hand side bar. This section contains the complete category structure of the currently opened library. As soon as a category is selected, its content will be listed in the parts list.
Using the popup menu it is possible to create new parts, rename and delete them, or export a selected category.
Note:
If you change the name of a parent category branch to an existing one, the categories will be merged.
Expanding / collapsing a particular category node
To expand a particular node in the Categories tree view, press [+] on the keyboard. To collapse a particular node in the Categories tree view, press [-] on the keyboard.
Expanding / collapsing multiple nodes
To expand a particular node together with all of its subnodes in the Categories tree view at once, press [*] on the keyboard. To collapse all nodes in the Categories tree view at once, press [/] on the keyboard.
Parts list (library)
By default, the complete content of the category currently selected in the Categories panel or the result of a query is displayed in the center of the EPLAN Harness proD library dialog when the Library tab is active. This is the so-called "Parts list", and it is the location where parts can be selected for further work (see Library Actions for a list of the available actions and their description).
The appearance of the parts list can be customized. It is, e.g., possible to determine individually for each part type which columns are to be displayed or hidden and also their order. Simply right-click on any column header of the parts list to open the Select visible properties dialog. Select the part type for which you want to change the appearance from the top drop-down list and activate / deactivate the check boxes to have the corresponding properties displayed or hidden. Use the Move <...> buttons to change the display order of the properties.
It is also possible to move parts from one category to another one by using the Change category command from the popup menu. This command affects all currently selected parts.
Part info
By default, this side bar is located on the right; it provides detailed information on the part(s) currently selected in the parts list. The information includes the following data:
- Preview: Graphical interpretation of the selected part determined by the user in the Additional info section of the part environment. For part types which have a 3D window available, the preview of the 3D model is displayed by default, while a 2D drawing is used for 2D objects (2D symbol, drawing header, drawing border).
- General information: Selected entries from the Global properties section of the part environment. This section also allows for changing some global properties (such as the Supplier, Status and Family properties) for all selected parts without opening the parts individually. To do so select the parts whose properties you would like to change and click on the desired property value in the General information side bar. A property editor opens; after changing the property value, the new entry has to be confirmed with the [Accept value] button.
- Mandatory properties from the item-specific properties section of the individual item types.
- Tags determined for the selected part in the Additional info section of the part environment.
- User-defined properties determined for the selected part in the Additional info section of the part environment.
Query
To search for parts within the current library you can use queries. These can be determined and launched in the Query panel. It is also possible to run already determined queries and search by tags via the Query command bar. Using the Part name search drop-down list in the upper right-hand corner it is possible to quickly search for parts whose part names (or part numbers) contain certain strings.
