Labels

A label is an adhesive or plastic tab used to label a wire or a bundle of wires.

In the label-specific properties you can determine the label's characteristics. The following properties are available:

Text

This field serves to specify the text which will be physically written onto the label. You can enter ordinary text or use variables. You can also enter a combination of text and properties (e.g. Cable $NAME$ $VERSION$). Variable values are displayed in the Label properties section of the property grid in EPLAN Harness proD Studio. The following variables are available:

  • $NAME$ – displays the name of the object the label is placed on. In case it is placed on a ribbon cable, the tree view name of the ribbon cable is displayed.

  • $VERSION$ – displays the version of the cable the label is placed on. Cable version is displayed regardless of which cable component the label is placed on.

  • $CROSSREFFERENCE$ – displays the number of the Type > Cross-reference row defined in the External numbers table. Cross-reference information is displayed regardless of which cable component the label is placed on.

  • $INTERNAL$ – displays the number of the Type > Internal row defined in the External numbers table. Internal information is displayed regardless of which cable component the label is is placed on.

  • $SUPPLIER$ – displays the number of the Type > Supplier row defined in the External numbers table. Supplier information is displayed regardless of which cable component the label is is placed on.

  • $MANUFACTURER$ – displays the number of the Type > Manufacturer row defined in the External numbers table. Manufacturer information is displayed regardless of which cable component the label is is placed on.

  • $CONNECTOR1$, $CONNECTOR2$ – displays the Connectable object from / to (connector, connectable object, terminal) tree view name.

  • $PIN1$, $PIN2$ – displays the From / to pin name property.

  • $CABLE$ – displays the tree view name of the parent cable. The name of the parent cable is displayed regardless of which cable component the label is placed on.

Width

The width of the label.

Color

The display color of the label.

It is possible to create a 2D representation of the label. It can then be used in the EPLAN Harness proD nailboard. The 2D window is not active by default, but you can add it by going to Part > Windows > Add.

Note:

A connection point is automatically created in the label's 2D window.
