Borrowing a license from the Eplan License Manager - without network connection

Licenses can only be borrowed and used in combination with the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator).

Preconditions:

The borrowed license can be borrowed at maximum for a period specified by the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator). After this period has expired, the Eplan product can only be used again after a further licensing has been performed. Within this period, the Eplan product can also be used without connection to the Eplan License Manager.

The borrowing period can be extended. Extending the borrowing period

Make sure to perform all steps in the following order:

Closed1a. Creating a request file during initial installation
  1. Start the Eplan product by double-clicking the program icon.

    2. The Activate license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Create request file option under Borrow license.
  3. Click OK.

    4. The Create request file dialog opens.

  4. Select the file path and the borrowing period and save the file *.egr.
  5. Click Create.

    6. The *.egr file has been stored.

    The Select license dialog is opened.

  6. Click Cancel.

Closed1b. Creating a request file for an existing installation

An error message can occur during the first connection to the new License Manager. End the connection to the License Manager once by returning the borrowed license or by disconnecting the connection. Then you borrow the license again or reconnect the product with the License Manager.

  1. Start the Eplan product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

    2. The Select license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the following menu items: Concurrent License > Borrow license > Create request file.

    3. The Create request file dialog opens.

  3. Select the borrowing period and save the file *.egr.
  4. Click Create.

    5. The *.egr file has been stored.

    The Select license dialog is opened.

  5. Click Cancel.

Closed2. Transferring the request file and receive a confirmation file
  1. Send an e-mail with the request file *.egr and the administrator of the License Manager.
  2. Receive an e-mail with the confirmation file *.egb from the administrator of the License Manager. For information on how the administrator can create the confirmation file, see Creating a confirmation file for borrowing.
  3. Save the confirmation file *.egb.

  1. Start the Eplan product by double-clicking the program icon.

    2. The Activate license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Load confirmation file option under Borrow license.
  3. Click OK.

    4. The Load confirmation file dialog is opened.

  4. Select the *.egb confirmation file.
  5. Click Open.

    6. The file is displayed.

  6. Click Load.

    7. The Borrowed systems and extensions are listed.

  7. Click Close.
  8. Click OK.

    9. The Check license dialog is opened and informs you about the borrowing period.

  9. The Eplan product can now be used.
  10. The Eplan product starts.

Closed3b. Loading the confirmation file at existing installation
  1. Start the Eplan product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

    2. The Select license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the following menu items: Concurrent License > Borrow license > Load confirmation file.

    3. The Load confirmation file dialog is opened.

  3. Click and select the *.egb confirmation file.
  4. Click Open.

    5. The file is displayed.

  5. Click Load.

    6. The Borrowed systems and extensions are listed.

  6. Click Close.
  7. Click OK.

    8. The Check license dialog is opened and informs you about the borrowing period.

  8. The Eplan product can now be used.
  9. The Eplan product starts.
