Transferring a single-user license

The help for the licensing supports you as a user with the activation, return and transfer of the single-user license of an EPLAN product.

If you want to use EPLAN on a new computer, you must perform a transfer of the license. The transfer of a license consists of returning the license on the old computer and activating the same license on the new computer.

1. Returning a single-user license

ClosedReturning a single-user license - with Internet connection

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which the licensing is being performed has an Internet connection!
  • EPLAN Rehost is installed in the same version on both computers. Information on this topic is available here.
  • You have an Entitlement ID (EID). Information on this topic is available here.

Return

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start EPLAN Rehost.

    2. The EPLAN Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Complete Revoke (online) option.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the Entitlement ID (EID) into the field Entitlement ID (EID).
  6. Click the Complete Revoke button.

    7. The return starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The return is confirmed.

  7. Click Close.
  8. The license has been returned successfully.

ClosedReturning a single-user license - without Internet connection

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which the licensing is being performed does not have an Internet connection.
  • The second computer has an Internet connection.
  • USB stick is available.
  • EPLAN Rehost is installed in the same version on both computers. Information on this topic is available here.
  • You have an Entitlement ID (EID). Information on this topic is available here.

Closed1. Creating a return request (Revocation Request)

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start EPLAN Rehost.

    2. The EPLAN Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 1: Create Revocation Request option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the Entitlement ID (EID) into the field Entitlement ID (EID).
  6. Click the Create Revocation Request button.

    7. The Save revocation request file dialog is opened.

  7. Save the Revocation Request file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  8. Click Close.

Closed2. Creating an acceptance file (Permission Ticket)

Perform the following steps at a computer with Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start EPLAN Rehost.

    2. The EPLAN Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 2: Download Permission Tickets (online) option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Revocation Request file to this computer.
  6. Click the [...] button and select the Revocation Request file on the USB stick.
  7. Click Open.

    8. The file path is displayed in the Revocation Request file field.

  8. Click the Download Permission Tickets button.

    9. The download starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

  9. Save the Permission Ticket file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  10. Click Close.

Closed3. Performing a return (Revocation Ticket)

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start EPLAN Rehost.

    2. The EPLAN Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 3: Revoke option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Permission Ticket file to this computer.
  6. Click the [...] button and select the Permission Ticket file on the USB stick.
  7. Click Open.

    8. The file path is displayed in the Permission Tickets file field.

  8. Click Revoke.

    9. The return starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The Save Revocation Ticket file dialog is opened.

  9. Save the RevocationTickets_* file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  10. Click Close.

Closed4. Confirming a return (Upload Revocation Tickets)

Perform the following steps at a computer with Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start EPLAN Rehost.

    2. The EPLAN Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 4: Upload Revocation Tickets (online) option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Revocation Ticket file to this computer.
  6. Click the [...] button and select the Revocation Ticket file on the USB stick.
  7. Click Open.

    8. The file path is displayed in the Revocation file field.

  8. Click the Upload Revocation Tickets button.

    9. The upload starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The return is confirmed.

  9. Click Close.
  10. The license has been returned successfully.

2. Activating a single-user license

ClosedActivating a single-user license - with Internet connection

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which the licensing is being performed has an Internet connection!
  • The EPLAN product is installed and is started for the first time. The dialog for licensing appears.
  • You have an Entitlement ID (EID). Information on this topic is available here.

Activate

ClosedInitial installation
  1. Start the EPLAN product by double-clicking the program icon.

    2. The Activate license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the option With an online activation.
  3. Click OK.

    4. The dialog Activate license online is opened.

  4. Enter the Entitlement ID (EID) into the field Entitlement ID (EID).
  5. Click OK.

    6. The Activate license dialog opens and shows the license content.

  6. Check whether the license content is complete.
  7. Click Activate.

    8. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The Activate license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  8. Click Close.
  9. Click OK.
  10. The license has been activated successfully.
  11. The EPLAN product starts.

ClosedWith existing installation
  1. Start the EPLAN product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

    2. The Select license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the following menu items: Single-user license > Activate license online.

    3. The dialog Activate license online is opened.

  3. Enter the Entitlement ID (EID) into the field Entitlement ID (EID).
  4. Click OK.

    5. The Activate license dialog opens and shows the license content.

  5. Check whether the license content is complete.
  6. Click Activate.

    7. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    ClosedMessage - A new Entitlement ID (EID) was found for your license.

    If you have used an outdated Entitlement ID, the Activate license dialog is displayed informing you that a new Entitlement ID is available.

    Example

    You have a new Entitlement ID for EPLAN Electric P8 Version 2.9

    • Click Yes:

      • The new Entitlement ID is activated.

      The outdated Entitlement ID is deactivated.

      After the activation you can use EPLAN Electric P8 Version 2.5 to 2.9. More

    • Click No:

      • The outdated Entitlement ID is activated.

      After the activation you can only use EPLAN Electric P8 Version 2.4 to 2.8. More

    The Activate license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  7. Click Close.
  8. Click OK.
  9. The license has been activated successfully.
  10. The EPLAN product starts.

ClosedActivating a single-user license - without Internet connection

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which the licensing is being performed does not have an Internet connection.

Perform the following steps at a computer with Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start EPLAN Rehost.

    2. The EPLAN Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Activation tab.

    3. The Manual activation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 2: Activate (online) option.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Activation Request file to this computer.
  6. Click the [...] button.

    7. The Open Activation Request file dialog is opened.

  7. Select the Activation Request file on the USB stick.
  8. Click Open.

    9. The file path is displayed in the Activation Request file field.

  9. Click Activate.

    10. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    ClosedMessage - A new Entitlement ID (EID) was found for your license.

    If you have used an outdated Entitlement ID, the Activate license dialog is displayed informing you that a new Entitlement ID is available.

    Example

    You have a new Entitlement ID for EPLAN Electric P8 Version 2.9

    • Click Yes:

      • The new Entitlement ID is activated.

      The outdated Entitlement ID is deactivated.

      After the activation you can use EPLAN Electric P8 Version 2.5 to 2.9. More

    • Click No:

      • The outdated Entitlement ID is activated.

      After the activation you can only use EPLAN Electric P8 Version 2.4 to 2.8. More

    The Activate license dialog opens and shows the content of the license.

  10. Click Activate.

    11. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The Save license file dialog is opened.

  11. Save the Iservrc_* file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  12. Click Close.

Closed3a. Performing licensing during initial installation

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Start the EPLAN product by double-clicking the program icon.

    2. The Activate license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Load activated licenses option.
  3. Click OK.

    4. The Select license file dialog is opened.

  4. Connect the USB stick with the Iservrc_* file to this computer.
  5. Select the Iservrc_* file on the USB stick.
  6. Click Open.

    7. The Load activated licenses dialog opens and shows the license content.

  7. Click Load.

    8. The Import license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  8. Click Close.
  9. Click OK.
  10. The license has been activated successfully.
  11. The EPLAN product is started.

Closed3b. Performing licensing for an existing installation

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Start the EPLAN product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

    2. The Select license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the following menu items: Single-user license > Load activated licenses...

    3. The Select license file dialog is opened.

  3. Connect the USB stick with the Iservrc_* file to this computer.
  4. Select the Iservrc_* file on the USB stick.
  5. Click Open.

    6. The Load activated licenses dialog opens and shows the license content.

  6. Click Load.

    7. The Import license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  7. Click Close.
  8. Click OK.
  9. The license has been activated successfully.
  10. The EPLAN product is started.
