Installing the Eplan License Manager

Only one Eplan License Manager can be operated per server.

Eplan recommends installing the Eplan License Manager on a separate server.

Preconditions:

  • As a local administrator you can access the server on which the software is to be installed or is already installed.
  • The firewall and all required ports are configured. Configuring the firewall

Note: Dongle usage

If you use a license in combination with a dongle, connect the dongle to your server before the installation. If the server is connected to the Internet, the dongle driver is installed automatically. If the server is not connected to the Internet, please contact the Eplan support.

Note: Primary License Manager / Standby License Manager

If you dispose of the Primary License Manager and the Standby License Manager in your system environment, you must always install or upgrade the Primary License Manager first.

The installation takes place in English.

  1. Download the current version of the Eplan License Manager from the Eplan Cloud under Downloads. (Download tools)
  2. Unpack the ZIP file.
  3. Open the ELM\License Manager directory.
  4. Click the setup.exe file to start the installation.
  5. Answer Yes to confirm the subsequent security prompt.
  6. Click Install.

    7. The installation wizard for the Eplan License Manager is opened. In the subsequent installation wizard dialogs you will confirm the license conditions among other things.

  7. Click Install to begin the installation.

    8. The Select Eplan License Manager – Configurator dialog opens.

  8. Select Primary License Manager as the operating mode.
  9. Select the Automatic connection type and assign a port or use the default port 9363.

    10. The Automatic connection type automatically supports DNS or IP addresses. Eplan recommends a static IP address. If you use DNS, enter the name (FQDN - Fully Qualified Domain Name) of the Eplan License Manager. Example for FQDN "elmserver.mycompany.com" or for IPv4 "192.168.1.1".

    The Primary License Manager - Configurator opens.

  10. Enter your Entitlement ID in the Entitlement ID field and click Activate online.

    Use the Settings button to enter your proxy connection.

    The contents of your licensing scope is displayed in the Activate license dialog.

  11. Click Activate.

    12. A message about the successful activation is displayed.

    The duration of the activation depends on the licensed add-ons.

  12. You have successfully installed and activated the Eplan License Manager.
  13. When you install the Eplan License Manager, the Eplan License Manager - Configurator link is created on the Windows Desktop. You can use this shortcut to launch the configuration program for the Eplan License Manager.
