Administrator settings

As an administrator special settings are available in your own area which is accessible by means of a freely definable access code.

After calling up EPLAN Smart Wiring in your browser and successful authentication you have the Administrator settings button available in the main menu of the application. If it is actuated, you are asked for the access code assigned by you which you have to activate after entering it by using the Enable access button.

When you access the administrator settings for the first time the string 0000 is entered as the initial access code. We recommend modifying the code individually after the first usage.

As an administrator the following settings are available:

Block access

This setting requires the entry of your self-selected access code from you. Using the Enable access button you obtain access to the administrator settings.

Change access code

Changing the access code is possible at any time. This setting opens the dialog where you are asked for the new access code and have to repeat it. The access code must have at least 4 characters.

The new access code becomes effective when the button [Save] is clicked.

Change working directory

With this setting you specify the working directory for the manufacturing team. In this directory and their subdirectories all project data must be stored in the formats *.epdz, *.xls and/or *.xlsx. It is possible to select a local directory as a working directory.

"Wire Station" data directory

With this setting you specify the storage location for the output of data of routing connections which can be provided for the Rittal solution "Wire Station" with integrated length-cutting machine.

Smart filter

This offers the possibility to influence the filter functionality in the connection list used by the finisher by activating the smart filter. This filter controls the filter behavior for the combination of filters. If this filter is activated, the finisher can only select the property values referring to the previous filter result for filtering in further properties. If the filter is deactivated, the finisher can select all values available in the project in the respective properties for filtering.

Messages

This allows you to display and hide the output of messages to the finisher when editing routing connections and connection types. The following settings are available:

  • Connection already installed
    If the check box is activated, the following message is displayed: "This connection has already been installed. Do you want to edit it anyway?". This is the case when the finisher wants to reset the status of a routing connection or cable from "Installed" to "Not installed".
  • Connection type already installed
    If this check box is activated, the following message is displayed: "All connections of the selected connection type have been installed. The connection list of the next connection type is opened". The note is displayed when multiple connection types per layout space are displayed in the project (e.g. "Wire" and "Cable") and the finisher changes the status of the last routing connection of a connection type from "Not installed" to "Installed". With [OK] you change to the next connection type without the finisher having to actively select the connection type.

Storage management

This is used to manage the automated deletion of project instances. Threshold values with regard to the Number of instances and the Period of days of inactivity of an instance are used to delete instances as soon as the [Cleanup] button is actuated. (To this purpose at least one of the threshold values has to be set unequal "infinite".)

Configurate connection list columns

Depending on which information the finisher requires for the installation of the routing connections in the enclosure, the columns of the connection properties displayed in the connection list can be adapted individually to the respective wiring jobs. To this purpose the following configuration dialog that consists of two halves is available via this setting.

The left half shows the column elements of the available connection properties, the right half shows the column elements of the already selected connection properties as they are currently displayed in the connection list. To change the column configuration in the connection list, you can move other column elements from the left half to the right half in this dialog or vice versa via Drag & Drop. In addition it is possible to influence the sequence of the columns in the connection list, by changing the position of the selected column elements in the configuration dialog via "Drag & Drop" vertically. The selected column configuration can be saved via the button Save as by first assigning a scheme name and actuating the icon . The saved scheme is then available for selection for the finisher in their settings.

Notes

  • As a default scheme a column configuration is offered which contains the connection properties No., Wire type, Source, Target, Cross-section, Color, Bundle and Status.
  • The selection of a columns scheme is not available to the finisher when they have selected the connection type "Cable". In this case the columns Connections, Cable DT, Cable type and Length are always displayed by default.
  • The columns No. and Status are a fixed component of the connection list and cannot be changed for the column configuration of the connection list.

Spare requirement determination for the column configuration

Since, in the case of column configuration, it is not possible to display all the connection properties in the connection list next to each other due to a lack of space, each column element in the configuration dialog is identified by a number between "1" and "3". The number stands for the relative space requirement of the respective column in the connection list and has the following meaning:

1: Column width small

2: Column width medium size

3: Column width large.

When selecting the column elements, the entire space requirement which results from the sum of individual space requirements of each column, is calculated internally in the program. You can influence the maximum possible space via the button [List only] or [List and 3D view] depending on the imported project file. If you want to import project files from EPLAN Pro Panel in the *.EPDZ format, a maximum space with a value of "18" is available for the columns of the connection list because of the visualized 3D view of the layout space. You specify this value using the [List and 3D view] button. If you want to import Excel-based project data of the type *.XLS / *.XSLX you can use the same button to place more columns in the connection list since no 3D view exists. After clicking the buttons again, the text then changes to [List only] and a maximum space with a value of "22" is available. In both cases the maximum value must not be exceeded since a further selection of columns is otherwise not possible. You must then reduce the number of selected column elements and/or select another column configuration. In the right dialog half above the selected column elements you are shown the calculated value and maximal value of the space requirement.

All schemes created by you can be opened using the [Select scheme] button and deleted via the symbol .

Note

When creating the schemes the setting of the maximum space requirement is saved via the button [List and 3D view] / [List only]. Only the schemes relevant for the project are then offered to the finisher.

E-mail server

This setting is used to configure the e-mail server. The following fields must be filled with values (see adjoining explanations):

  • E-mail server address => Address of the SMTP server, e.g. smtp.server.de
  • E-mail port => e.g. 25, 443 and 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (SSL/TLS)
  • E-mail encryption => e.g. STARTTLS / SSL / TLS
  • Sent by => User identifier
  • Password => User password
  • Address from => E-mail address of the user

Help URL

In the field of the setting by the same name you can enter a link to the EPLAN Smart Wiring help and provide the user with information about the application of the product.

Deletion of projects

Outside the administrator settings you have the possibility as administrator to delete individual projects or project instances via the menu item and dialog Continue project available to the finisher. The symbol is then displayed in this dialog behind each project and each project instance. When the symbol is actuated, a query is displayed whether you really want to delete the project or the project instance which you have to answer with "Yes" or "No".
