You can use settings to individually customize the user interface and the program behavior in EPLAN Smart Wiring to your requirements and your working method. The following settings are available:
- You can select the desired color combination for the appearance of the user interface from four offered schemes.
- You can influence the representation of the connection list and determine whether the source and target or the connection designation to the wired routing connections are to be displayed. In addition you can determine whether you want to wire bundle chains or daisy chains.
- In addition you can define whether you want to work through routing connections individually or in a given sequence.
- If connection properties for the labeling of wires are to be printed, the output data can also be determined and the font and font size can be selected.
- If you have completed a wiring project, you can activate a check mode for quality control. In this mode the result of the check can be documented at each routing connection listed in the connection list.
Setting a color scheme
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Colors.
- Select one of the four available color combinations from the drop-down list.
- The color adjustment of the user interface happens immediately afterwards.
Changing the representation of the connection list
Displaying the source and target or connection designation
Depending on the connection information that is required for the wiring of the mounting layout, the device tags of the source and of the target or the connection designations of the routing connections can be optionally be displayed in the connection list.
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > List view.
- Select the menu option Source / Target or Designation.
- After opening or continuing a project, and depending on your selection, either the properties Source and Target or the Designation property are displayed in the header of the connection list and the relevant information is output in the connection list.
Setting the daisy chain mode
EPLAN Smart Wiring supports the wiring of daisy chains. Here context-specific routing connections (such as 24 V potentials) can be edited step-by-step.
As a default the BundlePresorting of routed wires prior to fabrication. Wires to be routed one by one or in parallel are combined in an organizational manner, and provided as labeled bundles for wiring purposes. mode is activated in EPLAN Smart Wiring, this means the connection list displays all routing connections with and without bundle assignment. If there are routing connections that are assigned to a daisy chain, this assignment can be displayed by switching to the Daisy chainA daisy chain is a list of connection points that are connected in order to one another in pairs. mode.
Precondition
You have opened or continued a project of the *.EPDZ type.
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > List view.
- Select the menu option Daisy chain.
- In the header of the connection list the Chain property is displayed instead of the Bundle property. All routing connections assigned to a daisy chain are specified in the connection list with a Daisy chain number and a Daisy chain index.
Setting the wiring mode
This mode allows you to influence the editing sequence of the connection list in EPLAN Smart Wiring.
Precondition
You have opened or continued a project.
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Wiring mode.
- Select the menu option Single or Sequential.
- If you have selected Single, you can edit the routing connections specified in the connection list in any sequence.
- If you have selected Sequential, you can edit the routing connections specified in the connection list only in the sequence provided in the schematic.
Notes
- Note that in the "Sequential" mode the search and filter bar of the connection list is not displayed anymore. Thus no property-related sorting and filtering of list entries is possible.
- In addition, switching to the "Sequential" mode is only possible if the routing connections edited in the "Single" mode are listed directly below each other in the connection list.
Setting print output for the labeling of wires
In EPLAN Smart Wiring connection properties of routing connections for the labeling of wires can be printed. You have the possibility to specify the font size and font for the labeling data to be printed.
General requirements
You have opened or continued a project of the *.EPDZ type.
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Labeling.
- In the Labeling menu select the Output data option.
- In the subsequently displayed list select all the connection properties that you wish to print.
- Switch back to the Labeling menu and select the Font settings option.
- If you want to change the font size click or tap the value field next to the menu option Font size and select the desired entry from the list opened.
- If you also want to use a certain font for the print, click or tap the value field next to the menu option Font and select the desired entry from the list opened.
Activating check mode
In the Check mode it is possible to document the quality of the installed wiring through the assignment of a check status.
General requirements
- You have opened or continued a project of the *.EPDZ type.
- The project is completed, this means that all routing connections of the project have the status "Installed".
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Check modeMode that - after the installation of all wires in the enclosure - enables documenting of whether the "Installed" status assigned at each routing connection by the wirer in EPLAN Smart is correct..
- Select the Use option.
- All routing connections which so far have been marked with the status "Installed" in the connection list now receive the status "To be checked" .
Note
If there are routing connections in the connection list of the project that have the status "Partially installed" or "Not installed" , they are hidden in the connection list if the check mode is activated.
