2D Object Properties

The properties of the currently selected 2D object (displayed in the 2D properties panel) can be edited to change the appearance of the object. The properties are subclassified into several groups.

Note:

If the object properties panel is closed, it can be (re-)opened via the main menu (View > Panels > Show properties).

General properties

  • Name: Name of the object.
  • Highlightable: Determines whether an object should be highlighted on mouse-over or not.
  • Selectable: Determines whether an object can be selected by left-clicking in the 2D working window or not.

Display properties

These properties describe the appearance of objects within the 2D working window.

Note:

The availability of a particular display property depends on the selected 2D object type.

  • Color: Color of the object.
  • Line type: Type of line stroke (continuous, dashed, dotted, etc.). The desired type can be selected from the drop-down list.

  • Font: Setting of font, font size, and font style.

Advanced properties

This section contains the object-specific properties.

Note:

The availability of advanced properties depends on the selected 2D object type.

Position properties

This section defines the position of an object within the 2D working window.

  • Position: Position coordinates of the object. The position is relative to the lower left-hand corner [0,0] of the 2D working window frame (dashed rectangle in gray).
  • Note:

The center of rotation (and the point which determines the position) differs according to the selected 2D object type. You can locate it easily if you select an object and activate the Move or Rotate command. The appropriate handler is displayed in the rotation center position.

  • Rotation: Angle of rotation of the object.
  • Note:

When an object is created, its Rotation value is set to "0".

  • Scale: Scaling factor of the object.
  • Note:

When an object is created, its Scale value is set to "1".
