The General section of the Settings dialog contains settings common to all environments.
The following dialog elements are available in the main node:
Language
Selects a language EPLAN Harness proD should use the next time the program is launched. If a particular EPLAN Harness proD license does not support the selected language, the default language selected during the EPLAN Harness proD installation will be used instead.
Override identity
When this field is activated, an identity can be entered into the text field. This is then used in the fields Creator and Last changed by. This checkbox is deactivated by default, in which case the Windows login account name is used.
Handler size
Size of handlers for the Move, Rotate and Scale commands.
UI color scheme
Determines the color theme of the application. Light and dark modes are available.
No. of Undo steps
Number of steps available for the Undo command.
Key point radius
Size of the representation of key points (red bullet).
Key point display time
Key point visibility duration (after highlighting with mouse-over).
3D model width handle name
Name to be assigned to the width handle when a part is imported or re-imported from the EPLAN Platform.
Width handles are created during import if a part's width has been set to be smaller than the physical width of the part's 3D model. This property can be found in the part's Mounting data tab in the EPLAN Platform.
Note:
Changing this property may require existing parts with a width handle to be re-imported or to have their width handle names updated to work properly.
Warning:
Deviating from this handle naming convention is not recommended, especially for the main handle, the width handle, and the mounting point.
Check for new version on launch
If activated, a notification is displayed when a new version is available.
Do not expand tree view (selection change)
When checked, nodes in the navigation panel tree view do not expand after selecting a corresponding object in the working window.
Suppress tree view highlighting
Activating this checkbox turns off the highlighting of objects in the working window with the cursor placed over the corresponding object in the navigation panel tree view.
Invert mouse zoom
Toggles the direction of the mouse zoom.
Enable PDM integration
When checked, the integration of an external PDM system is supported.
Ignore multi-language strings
This function is available only when the EPLAN Platform master data library is in use.
When checked, the EPLAN Platform master data library works in the "invariant mode" - values of properties, which can be multi-language in EPLAN Electric P8 (Description and User-defined properties - both names and values) are shared across all language mutations of EPLAN Harness proD Library.
When any value is changed in the French GUI language, the same value will be displayed in every other GUI language. If the value is then changed in the Turkish GUI language, it will also change in the French GUI language.
If this setting is deactivated, the EPLAN Platform master data library works in the multi-language mode. The supported values are different for each GUI language. The special case is user-defined property names, which are never empty. The name is displayed in the language that was filled in last.
If the language was switched to Turkish, there would be no value there because it was the value specific only for the French GUI. But you can fill in the value, which is specific only for the Turkish GUI.
Integrated synchronization between EPLAN Harness proD Library and master data
When active, the Synchronizer process is run in the background whenever an LPM library is active (only the active library is synchronized). When the checkbox is inactive, the user needs to run the Synchronizer MS Windows service or the Synchronizer application to synchronize between EPLAN Harness proD and EPLAN Platform master data. Please note that changing this setting applies only after restarting the EPLAN Harness proD Studio.
Separators
In this subnode, you find the following dialog elements:
- Name / index separator: Determines the separator character, which separates names and occurrence numbers (indexes) in the navigation panel tree view.
- Separator between device and pin: Determines the separator between the device (connectable object, terminal, etc.) and the pin name, for instance, in tables and reports.
- Full pin name separator: Determines the separator in the full pin name. The separator is used for the Plug designation, Pin designation and Terminal designation entries.
- Connection point designation separator: Determines the separator between connection point designations.
Paths
Settings for paths are used for processing parts' attached documents between EPLAN Harness proD Library and the EPLAN Platform parts database.
In order to be able to use parts' attached documents in EPLAN Harness proD Library, which were created in Electric P8 (and vice versa), it is necessary to set paths for:
- Default path for projects: Enter a directory path where EPLAN Harness proD projects will be saved by default.
- Default path for display configurations: Enter a directory path where EPLAN Harness proD display configurations will be saved by default.
- Default template path: Enter a directory path where EPLAN Harness proD project templates will be saved by default.
- Default path for libraries: Enter a directory path where EPLAN Harness proD libraries will be saved by default.
- Default path for library connections: Enter a directory path where EPLAN Harness proD library connections will be saved by default.
- Path to EPLAN Platform Data $(EPLAN_DATA): This field should be used to fill in the path to the EPLAN Platform Data directory. Typical example:
C:\Users\Public\EPLAN\Data . - Path to EPLAN Platform Documents $(MD_DOCUMENTS): This field should be used to fill in the Documents default directories variable from EPLAN Platform. This allows parts imported from EPLAN Platform to EPLAN Harness proD to retain links to their attached documents. This path can be found in EPLAN Electric P8: Settings > User > Management > Directories > Documents. Typical example:
$(EPLAN_DATA)\Documents\Company name . - EPLAN Platform system configuration: This field allows the user to select the EPLAN Platform system configuration by typing in the name of the configuration.
- Load paths from Platform: This button will automatically fill in the aforementioned directory paths if EPLAN Platform is installed on the same computer.
Note:
The user can set their system configuration after adding the corresponding command group of the ribbon toolbar in EPLAN Electric P8. Please, also note that to fully utilize the EPLAN Electric P8 system configurations, the EPLAN Electric P8 application first needs to be launched with administrator rights and with the following parameter: /SystemConfiguration:<Value> for the system configuration to take effect.
