Alignment Boxes for Texts

Alignment boxes are used in the graphical editor and in the form editor to adapt texts or placeholder texts to a specific space that is available on a page or in a form. Various setting possibilities exist in the properties dialog of the texts / placeholder texts on the Format tab in order to influence the display of the texts in an alignment box. For example, a text can be adapted to the width and height of an alignment box by using the two settings Text width fixed and Text height fixed.

Nevertheless, it is possible that the texts output at generated reports are too long for the respective alignment box or that after translation the text no longer fits into the alignment box at several displayed languages. In such cases the text was often truncated or becomes illegible because languages overlap.

In order to correct such texts you can adapt the text in the alignment box. If the placeholder texts in forms are prepared correspondingly, fitting is carried out automatically when generating reports.

The display property Text fitting permitted is available in order to scale a text correspondingly in an alignment box without it being truncated. This check box allows the scaling of texts. Fitting itself is carried out by a subsequent action.

Preconditions

The following four settings have to be activated (in the properties dialog of the text in the Format tab below the Alignment box hierarchy level) so that a text can be fitted in the alignment box:

If the requirements are fulfilled, fitting of texts in the alignment box is carried out as follows:
