Project Groups for Working with Several Projects

Project groups are used to make working easier at simultaneous working with several projects. Through the assignment of a project to a specific project group you can stipulate that this project is marked by a colored margin in the project data navigators in order to facilitate differentiation. In addition you can have further additional navigators, such as a second page navigator, displayed for the projects of a project group.

Benefit:

Project groups support you in working simultaneously with several projects. You can distinguish different projects (schematic projects, macro projects, projects for specific customers, etc.) and their data more easily on the basis of the color in the navigators. You can use additional navigators, for example, to have several differently filtered views displayed simultaneously for specific project data of a project (pages, devices, etc.).

Definition of project groups

You carry out the different settings for the project groups in the new user-specific settings dialog Settings: Project groups (definition) (menu path: Options > Settings > User > Display > Project groups (definition)).

In addition to the project groups already predefined "Schematic projects" and "Macro projects", you can create up to three further project groups as well as change the preset color in the Project groups table. You have to activate the respective check box for a project group in the Color activated column so that the set color is displayed in the navigators.

If a color is activated for a project via the project group assignment, the color set here is used both in the project data navigators as colored edge for the project as well as to color a tab if a page / layout space, etc. is opened for the project.

Additional navigators

You can specify up to ten additional navigators in the Additional navigators table of this settings dialog. These navigators can be displayed and hidden in accordance with the sequence specified here by means of the menu path Project data > Additional navigators > ….

Assignment of the project group

The Project group assignment setting in the new dialog Settings: Project group (assignment) is available in order to assign the desired project group to a project (menu path: Options > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Display > Project group (assignment)).

Select the desired project group from the drop-down list. Two of the possible five project groups are predefined ("Project group 1: Schematic projects", "Project group 2: Macro projects"). The names of these project groups cannot be modified.
