EPLAN News 2.8

Bus Data Available at All Representation Types

In Version 2.7 bus data could only be entered at single-line network / bus cable connection points. At a subsequent modification of the representation type the Bus data tab in the property dialog was hidden and the data entered there is deleted.

Now the Bus data tab is available for all representation types in the property dialog of bus ports. Bus data are no longer deleted when the representation type is changed.

Benefit:

If necessary, bus data can additionally be entered and displayed multi-line in the schematic. This makes it possible, for example, to also represent an ASi bus in the terminal diagram.

A single-line representation of the bus, is, however always recommended. The single-line representation is required for the PLC configuration data exchange. When exporting PLC configuration files the bus structures are determined from the single-line bus ports connected to each other. In this case enter the bus data at the single-line network / bus cable connection points.

Tip:

Before carrying out the export, check whether conflicting PLC data exists at the different representation types of a bus port. You can use check run 007010 for this purpose. To only keep the data at the single-line representation, use the compressing of projects with the new compressing setting "Remove project data > Bus data at non-single-line bus ports".

Note:

When opening projects from older EPLAN versions (Version 2.7 or previous) the value of the Bus interface: Name property is copied from the single-line representation of a bus port to all other representation types. This is the case since in the new version this property is identifying together with the plug designation for bus ports.
