Identification of Bus Ports Via the Bus Interface Name and Plug Designation

PLC connection points are uniquely identified via the DT of the PLC box, the plug designation and the connection point designation. The identification of the plug designation is, however, not unique in every case for bus ports. Therefore the combination of bus interface name and plug designation is used for the identification of the bus ports.

Renamed property Plug DT

Since the value of the Plug DT property does not include a device tag but the designation of a plug, the property was renamed in this version. In the course of this change, all parts of the user interface, which included the term "plug DT", were changed to "plug designation".

New property "Bus interface: Name (with plug designation)"

The new property Bus interface: Name (with plug designation) (ID 20443) is available to display this combination of bus interface name and plug designation. The determined value from the bus interface name and plug designation without separator in between is displayed in this property.

In the property dialog of PLC connection points you can display the property in the PLC connection point tab in the Properties group box as well as select property selection for display via the Display tab.

The property is displayed for PLC connection points by default in the tree view of the PLC navigator and the device navigator. This property is also available in the PLC navigator as a filter criterion and for the configuration of the list view as well as for external editing of tabular editing and in reports, etc.

Display of the bus interface name in dialogs

Since the bus interface name is used for the identification of bus ports, a new column Bus interface: Name is displayed in the following dialogs:

Bus interface name as selection criterion for device selection

In the device selection the property Bus interface: Name can now be used as a selection criterion. For this purpose the PLC tab in the Settings: Device selection dialog has been extended to include the Bus interface: Name check box.

The already existing check box Plug DT has been renamed to Plug designation.

New compatibility setting "Show bus interface name in target information"

In the course of the extension named above, the new compatibility setting Show bus interface name in target information is activated by default (menu path: Options > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Management > Compatibility).

If this check box is activated, the bus interface name of the bus ports is shown in addition to the plug designation wherever target information is displayed. This affects amongst others the display of source and target of connections, the tree view of the connection navigator, cross-references, reports, the display of targets in the Edit terminal strip and Edit plug dialogs, etc.

If the check box is deactivated, only the plug designation is shown when target information is displayed. This corresponds to the behavior in EPLAN versions before Version 2.8.
