New and Changed Menu Items for the Completion of PLC Data

New functionalities for the completion of data and bus ports were installed for this version. You find these below the Project data > PLC menu path in the new submenu Complete data.

In the course of this extension the existing functionalities Write back connection point designations and Set data types were moved to the new submenu Complete data.

New menu item for writing back the configuration project

For the data exchange of PLC configuration files it is necessary that the Configuration project property is filled with the same value for all PLC boxes and bus ports that belong to a certain bus configuration. I/O connection points do not have this property since they are automatically assigned to a configuration project via the associated PLC box. In the past you had to manually enter the configuration project at the bus ports.

With the new menu item Project data > PLC > Complete data > Write back configuration project to bus ports you now have the possibility to transfer the configuration project of a PLC box to the associated bus ports. In this case the value of the property Configuration project of the associated PLC box is assigned to all marked bus ports.

Benefit:

The manual input of the configuration project at all the individual bus ports is no longer required.

Any existing entries for the configuration project at the bus ports are overwritten with the value of the respective PLC box in the process. If a single bus port is to be assigned to another configuration project, the values have to be changed manually subsequently.

New menu item for the synchronization of the bus interface name

Together with the plug designation the bus interface name is identifying for bus ports. If the same bus port exists in multiple representation types in the project, it is necessary that the bus interface name is entered in all representation types for global editing and for reports.

Via the new menu item Project data > PLC > Complete data > Synchronize bus interface names you now have the possibility to transfer the bus interface name to all representation types of the same bus port. This action is only effective for functions that are also included in the selection.

Benefit:

Manual entry of the bus interface name at all different representation types is no longer required.

The value of the Bus interface: Name property that is entered at a representation type is transferred to all other representation types for the marked bus ports. If different bus interface names are available at different representation types, the values remain unchanged and the bus interface name is not transferred to the other representation types.

New menu item for the synchronization of the physical networks

The logical network is a subset of the physical network. Therefore all bus ports of a logical network must also be assigned to the same physical network.

With the new menu item Project data > PLC > Complete data > Synchronize names of physical networks you now also have the possibility to transfer the name of the physical network from the bus master to the corresponding bus slave within the same logical network. This action is only effective for functions that are also included in the selection.

Benefit:

The manual input of the physical network at all the bus slaves is no longer required. Different network definitions between auto-connect connections and the input field are avoided.

Tip:

For error-free export of network structures all bus ports of a physical network must be displayed as single-line and must be connected to each other. With the new check runs 004103 and 004104 you can check whether bus master and bus slave have the same value as the property Physical network: Name and whether all bus ports of a physical network are connected to each other.
