Graphical Pre-planning

The pre-planning can also be created graphically on pages of the "Pre-planning" page type. To this purpose a segment can be represented graphically by a box, a polygon or an open polyline. In the graphical pre-planning, there are no connection points and logical connections.

Structure segments are drawn on a pre-planning page like structure boxes, and planning objects like black boxes. But the symbols used differ.

Connection planning objects (piping planning objects and cable planning objects) are represented graphically by an open polyline. The source and target segment of a connection planning object are specified by placing start and end points of the polyline on the desired segments.

Determination of the structure

The page structure does not affect the graphically placed segments.

When drawing new segments as boxes the structure is determined from the graphical arrangement of the segments. When placing existing segments out of the pre-planning navigator the structure is retained in most cases. The exceptions are:

When new segments are inserted, an outer box always becomes the top node within the structure of the pre-planning navigator. By nesting further boxes within this superior box, subordinate segments are created.

When placing existing segments, the graphical pre-planning can begin with any node in the structure.

In the pre-planning navigator, there may be further (non-graphical) segments below the graphically planned segments.

Multiple placement

A segment can be placed graphically multiple times (out of the pre-planning navigator). This means it is possible to display a segment on multiple pre-planning pages.

Only the first placement of a structure segment or planning object may be located within a box in the graphic. The further placements cannot be carried out within a different box. In such a case you receive a corresponding message from the program.

Editing of segments

When segments are placed on a pre-planning page, they cannot be moved in the pre-planning navigator.

When graphically placed segments are deleted, the subordinate segments are not deleted. Only if all subordinate segments are unplaced will a prompt appear whether they are to be deleted as well.

Tip:

Placed segments can be stored in window or page macros. This way, the graphical pre-planning can be created also by means of macros.

Cross-references in the pre-planning

Cross-references can be shown at the segments on the pre-planning pages, if corresponding "counterpieces" exist for the segments, which are placed in the detailed planning (P&I diagram, multi-line schematic) or the pre-planning pages as well. The following is possible for example:

Settings for cross-references

The page type "Pre-planning" in the dialog Settings: Display in the table Display device cross-references has to be selected so that cross-references are shown on the pre-planning pages or on the segments on the pre-planning pages. If the cross-references to the segments on the pre-planning pages are highlighted by a prefix, you have to determine this in the dialog Settings: General in the table Page type / prefix.

Jump function to the counterpiece

You can select the popup menu item Go to (counterpiece) to jump from one segment to the cross-referencing counterpiece in the graphical editor. In this case a jump from one segment on a pre-planning page to a linked main function in the detailed planning only takes place if there are no further placements for the segment on the pre-planning pages.
