An item is part of a device which cannot be further broken down, such as a motor, terminal, plug, auxiliary block, or cable. An item may be assigned a part number, in which it can be graphically represented on the mounting panel. Items are defined by using parts: An item is a part which is assigned technical properties through function templates (see Function templates).
