Plugs

Electrical engineering

The combination of multiple pins is called a plug. A plug can contain either only male pins, only female pins, or both mixed together. For separate management of male and female pins, the plug usually contains only the male pins, and the counterpart with the female pins (also called a plug in EPLAN) is fixed in the device. If male and female pins are managed together, the plug is taken to mean the entire component. The plug is the main function, in which device definitions and parts can be entered. The pins are the auxiliary functions.
