Changing the Routing Direction

Depending on the assembly situation of a device in an enclosure, it may be necessary to change the routing direction of all connection points specified in the connection point pattern in order to avoid unfavorable routing tracks.

An example of a special assembly situation is the placement of a motor overload switch on a device adapter, which itself is placed on a busbar system. The entire arrangement is placed, as a rule, at the upper edge of a mounting panel. The wiring of all connections of the motor overload switch is then carried out down in a wire duct. But if the routing direction of the connection points in the connection point pattern should point up (1), the routing of connections will create detours and longer routing tracks. Changing the routing direction to point down would have clearly shorter routing tracks as a result (2).

In order to respond to such situations, it is possible to change the routing direction for one or several highlighted devices in a layout space quickly and permanently. The modification overwrites locally the settings of the part. The settings of the routing direction in a connection point pattern of a part are then no longer valid for these devices.

Preconditions:

  1. Select in the layout space the devices whose routing direction you want to change.
  2. Select the menu items Project data > Device > Change routing direction.
  3. In the drop-down list of the dialog Change routing direction, select the new routing direction.

The same routing directions are adjustable that are also available for the creation of a connection point pattern.
  4. Click [OK].

The new routing direction is set on all connection points of the highlighted devices.

The property dialog of the devices shows the new routing directions on the Connection point pattern tab. The Local connection point pattern check box is activated.

If you disable the Local connection point pattern check box, the routing directions are reset to the settings from the original connection point pattern of the part.
