Placing a Copper Rail

Preconditions:

  1. Select the Insert > Busbar (bending) menu options.

The Busbar (bending) item dialog is displayed.
  2. Click the [...] button next to the Part number field.

Parts management opens the subgroup with the rail parts in the tree structure.
  3. Select the required part that is to be used for the bent busbar and click [OK].

The selected part number is entered in the Busbar (bending) dialog.

The values for width and depth defined on the part are used for the dimensioning of the cross-section of the rail.
  4. Click the [...] button next to the Form field.
  5. In the Select form dialog, select the form drawing that is to be used for the bent busbar and click [Open].

The form drawing is entered in the Busbar (bending) item dialog.
  6. In the Bending radius field, enter a value for the radius of the bendings.

This value is used in the generation of the graphic of the rail and forms the basis for the calculation in bending tables. Thus, the bending radius also influences the tool selection when bending using manufacturing machines.
  7. Select one of the options Flat bending or Edgewise bending in accordance with how the bar is to be bent.
  8. When all the fields have been completed correctly, click [OK].

The copper rail hangs from the cursor at the handle defined in the form drawing.
  9. Move the item to a mounting surface on which it is to be placed.

    3D snap points are displayed.

The underlying mounting surface is activated automatically.

Depending on the alignment of the mounting surface, the rail will be turned in parallel to it.
  10. To enter an offset value for the placement, use the Placement options popup menu.
  11. To turn the rail by 180°, use the Turn around mounting position popup menu.

This way, the rail can also be placed on the back side of other components without having to switch the view.
  12. To generate a new bundle when placing the rail, press the [N] key.
  13. Place the rail by clicking on the desired position.
