Using Protected Devices

To use the functions of protected devices when editing schematics, you must assign the Device protection property to all functions of a device that you wish to protect. A check run can be used to determine whether a device contains both protected and unprotected functions.

Deleting functions

Locked functions cannot be removed completely from the project. Only their placement can be removed:

Use and assign functions

The action "Use existing" in the DT selection dialog is not possible at a protected function. It is also not possible to assign a device tag / a function to a protected function in the Graphical editor. The target function must always be an unprotected function.

If the source function has the Device protection property, the writable properties of the source function (together with the Device protection property) are transferred completely to the target function and the source function subsequently deleted.

Actions in the graphical editor

In the case of actions in the graphical editor, such as moving or inserting further functions, where adopting a DT would be possible, The original complete DT of protected functions is not changed. If a protected device is affected by such an action, then the identifying device tags of all components on the page in question are protected against a DT change.
